The Northern York County Regional Police Department is investigating the death of a 26-year-old man found ill in the backyard of a Jackson Township residence Friday afternoon.
Brian Reed Jr., of 223 Melinda Drive in Jackson Township, was transported to York Hospital in critical condition and later died, according to a York County Coroner's Office news release.
The release said Reed was found about 12:20 p.m. in the backyard of a home in the 200 block of Stitt Drive in Spring Grove. He was still alive but critically ill.
The cause of Reed's illness is under investigation, according to the release.
Deputy Chief Coroner Claude Stabley responded to York Hospital to certify the death, and an autopsy was conducted Saturday morning at Lehigh Valley Hospital in Allentown. The cause and manner of Reed's death will remain undetermined, however, until toxicology and tissue analysis is complete, which can take two to three months, the release said.
In the interim, Reed's death has been deemed suspicious.
