Road repairs near Harrisburg for the weekend delayed
Drivers planning to use northbound Interstate 283 to northbound Interstate 83 within the Eisenhower Interchange this weekend will no longer need to plan for detours.
The originally planned repairs for the weekend have been postponed for a week because of the availability of materials and impeding weather, according to a release.
During repairs next weekend, the detour will direct traffic on northbound I-283 to eastbound Route 322, to the Penhar Interchange and then back to westbound Route 322 through the interchange to northbound I-83, according to PennDOT.
The interchange will be closed to traffic starting at 9 p.m. next Friday and will continue until no later than 5 a.m. that Monday.
The previously scheduled repairs also have been shifted a week.
On the weekend of July 8 through 11, northbound I-83 through the interchange is scheduled to be closed. Drivers will be detoured through eastbound Route 322 to the Penhar Interchange, then westbound Route 322 back to northbound I-83, according to PennDOT.
On the weekend of July 15 through 18, the southbound I-83 ramp to southbound I-283 is scheduled to be closed. Drivers will be detoured through the ramp for southbound I-83 at Exit 47 for Derry Street, to Eisenhower Boulevard and onto southbound Route 441 to the ramp for southbound I-283, according to PennDOT.
On the weekend of July 22 through 25, southbound I-83 through the interchange is scheduled to be closed. The detour will take drivers through the ramp for southbound I-283 to southbound Route 441 to the ramp for northbound I-283 back to southbound I-83, according to PennDOT.
