Manchester Township resident Becky Combs thought it was a cruel joke when "Wheel of Fortune" representatives called her in February.

Combs was supposed to receive a letter much earlier if her audition had been selected, but she got a phone call with two weeks' notice instead, she said.

Combs flew out to Los Angeles in early March to record her episode, which finally aired Tuesday night on WHP CBS 21, showing the child life specialist winning $46,900.

She said she's planning on using the money to pay bills, travel and possibly adopt a child.

Combs, originally from Lancaster, said she is the third member of her family to participate in the show after her father appeared in June 2013 and her younger sister, Allison, appeared last December.

Becky Combs beat her sister in terms of winnings but narrowly lost out to her father, who won $47,102, she said.

Watching party: About 25 family members gathered at Combs' house to watch the show Tuesday night, she said.

"They're probably getting pretty sick of it," Combs said, laughing, about her family members gathering for "Wheel of Fortune" watch parties. "But it's still exciting for us."

Producers told Combs that multiple family members appearing on the show is not unheard of but that three appearing in such a short time span had never been done, she said.

"America's Game" is currently in its 33rd year in syndication.

Watching the show had been a tradition in Combs' family as she was growing up. She said hosts Pat Sajak and Vanna White were very nice to her.

Her family also watched "Jeopardy," but she said that would be "too intense" for her to compete.
