It’s time to grab a bottle of barbecue sauce and fire up the grill. With temperatures ranging in the low to mid-80’s, the Memorial Day weekend forecast is expected to be mostly ideal for outdoor holiday festivities.

The anticipated warmer weather will be a nice change from the cool and damp month of May that Yorkers recently experienced, according to the National Weather Service,

“This weekend will be reversing that cooler than normal trend and will go above normal temperatures,” said meteorologist Craig Evanego.

Overall, he predicts typical early summer weather for the weekend ahead.

With the summery temperatures expected, the pool is sure to be a hot spot for those celebrating the holiday weekend.

Green Valley Swimming Pool is one of many York County community pools preparing for the Memorial Day rush. Russ Jacobs, owner of Green Valley, said the upcoming holiday has the potential to be the busiest day of the year.

“It all depends on the weather,” he said. “The water is warm, and if the weather is nice a lot of people will come to the pool.”

Slight humidity can be expected each day of the weekend, and that brings the chance of rain or a thunderstorm during the afternoon hours.

AccuWeather meteorologist Courtney Spamer said the weekend will include a mixture of clouds and sunshine. However, a storm system is expected to move in from the west, which creates a greater likelihood for thunderstorms to occur Memorial Day.
