Tax deadline fast approaching

Greg Gross

Tax-filing procrastinators can rejoice a little because of the slight reprieve they are receiving this year from a later deadline.

Since the traditional due date of April 15 falls on Emancipation Day, a public holiday in Washington, D.C., the deadline was moved to Monday, April 18.

The state Department of Revenue and the York Adams Tax Bureau also followed suit in moving their deadlines to April 18.

That gives filers an extra weekend to crunch the numbers. Nonetheless, time is ticking to get income tax forms filed, whether via traditional mail or by filing online.

Here's how to find common forms needed to file your taxes:

  • Federal income tax forms: Go to irs.gov and click on the "forms and pubs" tab.
  • State income tax forms: Go to revenue.pa.gov and click on the "forms and publications" tab.
  • Local income taxes: Go to yatb.com and click on the "for individuals" tab.

Most libraries and post offices also have paper forms available.
