PinnacleHealth System is continuing to expand into the York County health care market after signing a binding affiliation agreement with the parent organization of Hanover Hospital.

The board of directors for Hanover Healthcare PLUS signed the agreement, which means Hanover Hospital, its physician network and facilities will become part of PinnacleHealth, according to a joint news release.

PinnacleHealth recently completed its acquisition of four area hospitals, including Memorial Hospital in Spring Garden Township.

The agreement with Hanover Healthcare is subject to regulatory review with an anticipated completion in September.

Per the agreement, all Hanover Healthcare employees and providers in good standing when the transaction closes will become PinnacleHealth employees, and a local charitable foundation will be established.

Hanover Hospital  has more than 1,400 employees, including more than 240 physicians.

“We are very excited to have finalized the terms of our agreement with PinnacleHealth and look forward to joining the growing network," Michael Gaskins, president and CEO of Hanover Hospital, said in the release. "Hanover Hospital will continue its dedication to the community by continuing its charitable mission and local board leadership.”

Lisa Duffy, spokeswoman for Hanover Hospital, said officials are excited that PinnacleHealth has committed to help the hospital modernize its facilities, attract more patients and expand services, according to the agreement.

She said she could not discuss specifics at this point.
