PennDOT: One lane on portion of I-83 to close Sunday night

Flagger David Reburn of York City works a construction site on Mount Rose Avenue in Spring Garden Township last week.

A lane on a portion of Interstate 83 will be temporarily closed Sunday night to allow for milling and paving, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said.

Northbound I-83 between Exit 22, North George Street, and Locust Lane will be restricted to a single lane from 7 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday.

During that time, contractors will be milling and paving a deteriorated section of the roadway, according to a news release.

The construction is part of a $12 million project to relocate the existing on-ramp from North George Street to northbound I-83 and construct a sound wall along the ramp, the release stated.

Work on the project is expected to be completed by October 2022.
