A Spring Garden Township shopping center is now part of the expanding York College landscape.

The acquisition of the Colonial Shopping Center, located along South George Street and just past the college’s athletic fields, was settled Feb. 2, according to York College spokeswoman Mary Dolheimer.

Additional sale information was not immediately available from Dolheimer or the York County Recorder of Deeds office.

In addition to the shopping center, York College was gifted an adjoining parcel that formerly housed a Tom’s gas station and convenience store, according to Dolheimer.

“The acquisition of these properties reflects careful planning for the long-term viability of the college and ensures our ability to address future needs of the campus, programs and students,” York College President Pamela Gunter-Smith said in a statement.

There are no immediate plans to change the current operation of the properties, though college officials are continuing to “explore potential opportunities” for the strip mall, the release states.

The Colonial Shopping Center houses more than a half-dozen tenants, including Minnich’s Pharmacy, Kissho Sushi, Lin’s Garden, Indulge Hair Salon and Formprest Cleaners.
