Lincoln Charter School to host 6th annual MLK Sunday Supper

Lincoln Charter School will host its sixth annual Martin Luther King Jr. Sunday supper at 5 p.m. Sunday, Jan. 14, on school grounds, the school has announced.

The three-hour event at the school, 559 W. King St., will include dinner, a movie presentation and a community discussion about food accessibility in York City, according to a news release.

The MLK Sunday Supper will be held on the eve of Martin Luther King Jr. Day, Monday, Jan. 15. The event aims to recognize parts of the civil rights activist's legacy.

This year’s event will have a particular focus on veterans, with the school asking attendees to bring shampoo, soap, deodorant, toiletries and other hygiene products to donate to the York Veteran’s Helping Hand, 412 W. King St., just a block from the school.

The event is open to the public and will have local partners in attendance, including representatives from the Central Pennsylvania Food Bank, Logos Academy, Centro Hispano Jose Hernandez and more.

Expected attendees include York City Mayor Michael Helfrich and predecessor Kim Bracey, state Rep. Carol Hill-Evans, D-York, West York Mayor Shawn Mauck and members of the York City Council and the York County commissioners.
