Northeastern Middle School raises suicide awareness
Northeastern Middle School is working to end the stigma of mental-health illness and prevent suicide by hosting a Silence Ends Here volleyball tournament.
The Silence Ends Here is a student group at Northeastern Middle School that works to raise awareness of mental illness, according to a news release from the school. Through the volleyball tournament, the students hope to work to end the stigma of mental illness. They also hope to encourage "help-seeking behavior" in the school district.
Proceeds from the event will go toward future student-led mental-health awareness projects.
The volleyball tournament will take place from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday at the Northeastern High School gymnasium. Admission is $1.
There will also be games and prizes, as well as food for sale.
