  • On Saturday, there are three different back-to-school drives in the local area.
  • The events need donations from individuals in the community to help students in need.

If you have extra school supplies or the ability to buy supplies for students in need, there are several events on Saturday that need your help.

Three different school supply drives will take place that day to help gather school supplies for students in need in the York County area.

Radio station 96.1 SOX will be holding its annual Stuff the Bus Campaign for the 10th year in a row. From 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday, the radio station will be collecting school supplies and stuffing them into school buses, according to a news release. In York County, there will be events at the West Manchester Town Center Walmart and at the Walmart in the Shrewsbury Commons Shopping Center.

The school supplies and donations will be supporting Veterans Helping Hand and children in York County, and 91.6 SOX will be at each location. A list of supplies needed can be found on the station's website.

From 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, Apple Nissan is hosting a "Fill the Nissan Frontier" event to help gather school supplies for Central York School District. Apple Nissan is located at 1510 Whiteford Road.

All school supplies are welcome, but according to a news release, the district needs pencils, pens, crayons, markers, glue sticks, locks, iPad chargers, backpacks and Walmart gift cards for gym sneakers.

Red Lion Chevrolet is also asking the community to donate school supplies to fill a van for the Red Lion Area School District, according to a news release. The event will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and will also have free hot dogs for those with donations from noon to 2 p.m.

The Chevrolet dealer, located at 3220 Cape Horn Road in Red Lion, is looking for plastic-handled scissors, spiral bound one-subject notebooks, colored pencils, dry-erase markers, glue sticks, two-pocket folders with brads in the middle, 12-inch by 12-inch personal white boards, easel pads and TI-95 calculators.
