Multiple $2,500 scholarships are available for Pennsylvania medical students currently enrolled in their second or third year of school.

Applications for the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship, offered through The Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance in conjunction with The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, can be submitted beginning Jan. 1 and must be postmarked by Feb. 29 to be considered.

The scholarship was established in April 2000 by the Pennsylvania Medical Society Alliance, an organization of physician's spouses from across Pennsylvania with the mission of improving the quality of health for everyone in the Commonwealth. The first scholarships in the amount of $2,000 each were presented in 2003 and continue to be awarded through the group's ongoing fundraising efforts.

The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society, which administers the Alliance Medical Education Scholarship, has offered financial assistance to medical students and the field of medical education for more than 60 years. The group seeks to sustain the future of medicine by providing programs that support medical education, physician health, and excellence in practice.

To be considered for the scholarship, candidates must submit two reference letters; verification of medical school enrollment on school letterhead; an essay describing their vision for the future of Pennsylvania medicine in addition to completing an application online.

For more information or to start the application process visit The Foundation of the Pennsylvania Medical Society's website.
