William Penn Senior High School was put on lock down this morning when administrators received a credible report of a gun on the premises.

The report was received around 9:45 a.m. and staff immediately notified the York City School District and the York City Police Department, which then enacted the lock down, according to a press release.

To ensure their safety, students and staff remained in their locations while officers searched the building for the weapon. The gun has yet to be located, but the high school students were dismissed at 12:20 p.m. to allow officers to further search the building.
