A York City man allegedly tried to rob a woman and hit her in the face at a York City park Saturday afternoon, according to police.

York City Police said Noel Caraballo pulled a gun on the woman and hit her in the face at Renaissance Park in the 200 block of East Princess Street about 4:15 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 5.

Caraballo, 50, of the 100 block of South Queen Street, is charged with attempted robbery and aggravated assault, both of which are felonies, and a misdemeanor offense of simple assault.

As of Wednesday, Oct. 9, he remained in York County Prison on $50,000 bail.

Charging documents state Caraballo approached a woman, her wife and her wife's child and asked them for about $100.

He demanded they give him the money and pulled a gun on them, according to police, who said he tried to physically take money from them.

One of the women punched him, and he hit her twice in the face, court documents allege.

Two unidentified men grabbed Caraballo before they and Caraballo fled, police said.

Caraballo's preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 21 at District Judge Ronald Haskell Jr.'s office.
