Police have captured a woman wanted for allegedly absconding with her two Adams County children and illegally taking them to Florida.

Lacey Marie Kelly, 26, of the Gettysburg area, was captured in Indiana on Tuesday, Oct. 1, by Shelbyville Police, according to a news release from Pennsylvania State Police.

Shelbyville is about 30 miles southeast of Indianapolis.

Officers there arrested her during a traffic stop, according to state police.

Once extradited back to Adams County, Kelly will be charged with two counts each of interference with the custody of a child and concealment of the whereabouts of a child, according to court records. Both charges are third-degree felonies.

The children, 2-year-old Lilyen VanMetre and 4-year-old Jayden VanMetre, were last seen in Adams County on Aug. 25 before allegedly being taken by their mother, police said.

The children were found safe in Florida the night of Aug. 27, according to police, who did not say why the children had been taken there.

Kelly doesn't have custody of the two children and didn't have permission to take them, according to state police.
