A former northern York County man is now locked up, accused of kidnapping, raping and choking a woman he met on a dating app.

Eduardo A. Venegas Del Muro, 22, formerly of Meadowbrook Court in Fairview Township, was captured in Cumberland County on Thursday, Sept. 19, and taken to that county's prison to await transfer to Adams County, according to state police spokeswoman Trooper Megan Frazer.

Also known as "Edwin," he had recently been staying at a home on Hummel Street in Harrisburg, court records state.

According to charging documents filed in Adams County by state police, Venegas Del Muro picked up a woman with whom he'd been corresponding on the Tinder app for more than a week after the two agreed to go on a date.

He picked her up just after midnight Tuesday, Sept. 17, at her Adams County home and drove her to a restaurant on the Carlisle Pike, north of New Oxford, police said. After they got out of his car, he started touching her and hugging her, charging documents state.

The woman told him she wasn't comfortable and asked him to take her home, according to documents.

They drove off, but instead of taking the woman home, Venegas Del Muro complained he'd driven "all the way from Harrisburg to see her" and took her to a road just north of a York Springs-area church on the Carlisle Pike in Latimore Township, documents state.

After they got out of his car, he knocked the cellphone out of the woman's hand and started to choke her, police allege.

Police said he choked her until she was unconscious and, prior to that, struck her repeatedly in the face. He then raped her, charging documents allege.

After a few minutes, he ran to his car and took off, leaving her there, police said.

Worried father: The woman made her way home and told her father what had happened. State police said her father had, by that time, called state police because he'd been unable to reach his daughter by phone and she hadn't come home.

Charging documents indicate police identified Venegas Del Muro as the woman's attacker several ways.

He was driving a car owned by his wife that was described by the woman, to include two child seats in the back, documents state. Also, investigators tracked him through his Tinder profile, police said.

And police found a selfie on the alleged rapist's Facebook page in which he was wearing a distinctive shirt that the woman described for them, documents state.

Venegas Del Muro's wife told troopers her husband "disappears (at) all hours of the night and she is unsure where he goes," according to charging documents.

Venegas Del Muro will be charged with the felonies of aggravated assault, kidnapping, rape, strangulation, sexual assault and using a phone or computer to commit a crime, according to court records.

He also will be charged with the misdemeanors of unlawful restraint, false imprisonment, simple assault, reckless endangerment, indecent assault and indecent exposure.

Venegas Del Muro also is being held on an immigration detainer, according to Frazer, the state police spokeswoman.

It is unclear if he has retained an attorney.
