Police: 19 arrested in DUI checkpoint at I-83 business loop
State and local police arrested 19 people at a sobriety checkpoint over the Labor Day holiday weekend for alleged DUI and drug-possession offenses.
One of them — Michael A. Fleegle — blew through the checkpoint at an unsafe speed, according to police allegations, but was pulled over a short distance away.
Fleegle, 44, of the Glen Rock area is free on his own recognizance, charged with DUI and the summary offenses of reckless driving and careless driving, according to court records.
The checkpoint was conducted by state police and York Area Regional Police on Friday, Aug. 30, at the Interstate 83 business loop, according to state police Cpl. Brian Torkar.
Fourteen people were arrested for allegedly driving under the influence, Torkar wrote in a news release.
Of those 14 people, 10 were also arrested for possession of drugs and/or drug paraphernalia, according to state police Sgt. Adam Reed.
An additional five people who weren't driving intoxicated were arrested for possession of drugs or paraphernalia, according to Reed, bringing the total number of those arrested at the checkpoint to 19.
Police seized cocaine, marijuana and liquid THC during the checkpoint, the news release states.
Some of those arrested at the checkpoint were wanted on a number of outstanding warrants, according to Torkar.
Assisting state police and York Area Regional Police at the checkpoint were the York County Sheriff's Office, Loganville Volunteer Fire Co. and Springettsbury Township Police, Torkar said.
