State prison for Newberry Twp. man who sexually assaulted girl
A Newberry Township man will serve state prison time for sexually assaulting a 10-year-girl.
William Agosto-Torres, 31, of Cassel Road, appeared in York County Court on Monday Aug. 26, where he was sentenced to three to six years in state prison, plus five years' probation, according to court records.
Agosto-Torres was ordered to have no contact with his victim, to comply with sexual-offender treatment and to abide by sexual-offender conditions placed on him by probation officers.
He was not found to be a sexually violent predator by the state's sexual-offender assessment board, records state.
A jury convicted Agosto-Torres on May 15 of aggravated indecent assault of a child less than 13, indecent assault of a child less than 13 and corruption of a minor. All the offenses are felonies.
The jury acquitted him of child rape and involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, according to court records.
Agosto-Torres sexually assaulted the girl in June 2017, according to court documents filed by Southwestern Regional Police.
The victim told authorities that he was cuddling with her when this happened, according to court documents.
Police filed charges against Agosto-Torres in January 2018.
