An 80-year-old Hanover man was killed when he was stuck by a vehicle, police said.

Hanover Police are asking those who witnessed the Monday, Oct. 15, accident to contact them.

York County Coroner Pam Gay on Monday afternoon identified the victim as James Dell.

Dell, of North Franklin Street, died of multiple traumatic injuries, according to a news release from Gay, who has ruled the death accidental.

A news release from Hanover Police Chief Chad Martin states Dell was fatally struck at 6:21 a.m. at the corner of Carlisle Street and Park Avenue. The American Legion Post No. 14 is located on one of the corners.

Dell was wearing dark clothing and was crossing the road when he was struck by a 2017 Ford Escape being driven by Thomas Scott of Hanover, according to the news release.

Dell was taken to York Hospital, the release states.

He was pronounced dead at the hospital at 8:45 a.m., according to Gay.

Hanover-area fire/rescue crews also responded to the scene, police said.
