A West York man with two previous child-porn convictions is now charged for a third time with possessing child pornography after a morning raid at his home, according to West York Police Chief Matt Millsaps.

William Charles Pyle, 65, of the first block of North Pearl Street, was taken to the county's central booking unit, where he was arraigned on charges of disseminating photos or film of child sex acts, possession of child pornography and using a computer to facilitate a crime.

He was committed to York County Prison on $75,000 bail, according to court records.

Millsaps said the raid happened the morning of Tuesday, Sept. 25, at Pyle's home. It was organized because Adams County detectives monitoring peer-to-peer file-sharing networks identified Pyle as having shared illegal images of children in sexual situations, according to charging documents.

The chief said it's certainly "a cause for concern" that Pyle has two prior child-porn convictions.

"And here we are, just a few years later, arresting him again," Millsaps said.

The chief noted that when Pyle had an outstanding York County warrant on an earlier criminal case, he was captured by U.S. Customs and Border Protection agents "as he was trying to flee the country."

Arrested in airport: In 2013, border agents tracked Pyle to Baltimore/Washington International Airport, where he had been placed on an international flight manifest, according to Millsaps.

Adams County detectives alerted West York Police, at which point West York Detective Michael Mendez Sr. began investigating and ultimately filed charges, according to the chief.

Also assisting were York County detectives and local computer-crimes expert Detective Mark Baker of Northern York County Regional Police, said the chief, who expressed gratitude for the assistance.

According to charging documents, Pyle shared videos on the Emule P2P network of children having sexual contact with adults.

State sex offender: Pyle is listed in Pennsylvania's Megan's Law sexual-offender registry for his two prior child-porn convictions.

During the search, police seized items including several cellphones, digital tablets, laptop computers, thumb drives and a digital camera, charging documents state.

Those items have not yet been fully analyzed, but a preliminary examination found  video of two girls, ages 11 to 13, in a sexual situation, documents indicate.

Pyle denied viewing child pornography when he spoke with West York detectives on Tuesday, according to charging documents. It is unclear whether he has retained an attorney.

Prior pleas: He pleaded guilty in York County Court to possession of child pornography in October 2015 and was sentenced to a year minus a day to two years minus two days in county prison, according to court records.

Pyle entered an Alford plea — basically a no-contest plea — in February 2014 to possession of child pornography and was sentenced to three to 23 months in York County Prison, records state.

As part of his 2014 plea, he was ordered to attend Sexaholic Anonymous classes, according to court records.
