Police: Man shot girlfriend's parents in Lower Windsor Twp.
A man is accused of shooting his girlfriend's parents during a domestic incident over the weekend in Lower Windsor Township, according to police.
Lower Windsor Township Police said in a news release Monday, Sept. 24, that Robert Hedrick, 21, shot Kimberly Forney and Matthew Forney at a home in the 1700 block of Winters Road on Sunday, Sept. 23.
Hedrick, of the 400 block of Bull Run Road, Lower Windsor Township, is charged with two counts of aggravated assault.
Police say the shooting happened in a domestic-related argument around 12:40 a.m.
Kimberly Forney was shot in the lower leg, and Matthew Forney was shot in the upper chest area, according to the release. The two were taken to York Hospital, and their conditions were not known as of Monday morning, police said.
Police say the Forneys were involved in an argument with two other people in the home during the incident.
Incident: Charging documents filed by Sgt. James Thomas state Morgan Forney and Hedrick were drinking with her parents that night, and Hedrick and Matthew Forney began grappling in the backyard.
Kimberly and Morgan Forney broke up the fight, but another altercation between all four started, according to Thomas.
Kimberly Forney attempted to brandish a handgun to shoot Matthew Forney, but she couldn't because she was struggling with him, charging documents state. Police say she handed the gun to Morgan Forney, who then handed the gun to Hedrick.
Morgan Forney told him to shoot, police said.
Hedrick was standing on the fourth step of the stairwell, and he fired four shots downward in the direction of Matthew and Kimberly Forney, striking both of them, court documents state.
Both Morgan Forney and Hedrick told police they assisted Kimberly Forney with her injury but did not help Matthew Forney, who was lying on the floor with a gunshot wound to the chest, police said.
Hedrick was arraigned on the charges Monday morning at the county's central booking unit. Hedrick was sent to York County Prison in lieu of $250,000 bail, online court records state. He does not have an attorney listed yet.
His preliminary hearing is scheduled for Oct. 5 at District Judge John H. Fishel's office.
Hellam Township Police, York Area Regional Police, and the York County District Attorney's Office were among those who assisted in the investigation Sunday morning.
