York City man wanted for questioning in West York shooting

West York Police are searching for a man wanted for questioning related to a shootout that happened last week.

The department posted on Facebook on Tuesday, Sept. 18, that officers are searching for Jah'zion "NBA" Smallwood, 18, of the 800 block of West Poplar Street.

West York Police Chief Matt Millsaps told The York Dispatch last week that there was a shootout about 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 12, in the first block of South Dewey Street.

Stephen Gerhardt, 19, of North York, was shot at least once in the torso, Millsaps said.

Millsaps said at least two people were firing guns at each other, and a number of others were in the area at the time.

"What we've gathered so far is that there is evidence there were multiple people shooting, and several people were seen fleeing the scene," he said. "We have evidence to suggest at least 10 shots were fired."

Anyone with information about the shooting or Smallwood's whereabouts is asked to call West York Police at 717-854-1975. Millsaps said if no one answers at the station, people should call 911.
