York City Police are investigating the death of a 2-year-old boy.

Sgt. Bill Wentz, who supervises the city's detective bureau, said Monday, Sept. 17, that Dante Mullinix was admitted to York Hospital in early September and was later transferred to Hershey Medical Center.

The boy died in Hershey over the weekend, he said.

Wentz said police initially were dispatched to York Hospital for a report of a child with injuries.

The sergeant said investigators are waiting on an autopsy to determine cause and manner of death, and whether a crime occurred.

County spokesman Mark Walters said York County Children, Youth and Families was involved with Dante's family as of Sept. 1.

He said the agency was involved with the family for six days prior to Dante receiving the injuries.

Hershey Medical Center is in Dauphin County, and the Dauphin County Coroner's Office is handling the case. The coroner's office said it will not release information on Dante's case.
