Police searching for Fairview Twp. bank robbery suspect
Fairview Township Police are searching for a man they say robbed a Members 1st Federal Credit Union on Thursday, Aug. 23.
The department identified the suspect as 48-year-old Jamie Glenn Sharkey Sr., whose last known address was in Lemoyne, Cumberland County.
Police say he also is the suspect in a bank robbery in Cumberland County.
Sharkey faces charges of robbery, theft and receiving stolen property for the Fairview heist.
The department said in a news release that Sharkey entered the bank at 132 Old York Road just before 4 p.m., presented the bank teller a note that demanded large-denomination bills.
"Make this simple, don't argue," he said to the teller when giving her the note, charging documents state.
The teller gave him an undisclosed amount of money, and the man left in the direction of the Giant Food Store plaza, police said. Charging documents indicate Sharkey made off with between $1,000 and $2,000.
Two people also saw him walking toward the Subway, the release states.
Sharkey did not display a weapon, and no one was hurt in the incident, according to authorities.
Investigation: Township Detective Jason Lotier viewed surveillance footage from the incident and immediately recognized the suspect as the same person who was wanted in connection with a Cumberland County bank robbery, officials said.
West Shore Regional Police say Sharkey robbed a Members 1st Federal Credit Union at 325 S. Tenth St. in Lemoyne on the afternoon of Aug. 17.
Police described Sharkey as white, 6 feet tall, with a medium build and short dark hair. He was wearing a black crew neck T-shirt, dark blue jeans and sunglasses, the release states.
The department said Sharkey is believed to be in the Harrisburg or West Shore area.
Anyone with information on the robbery or Sharkey's whereabouts is asked to contact police at 717-902-5267.
Tips also may be submitted on the department's website.
