A former Dover man is accused of embezzling hundreds of thousands of dollars from a bank and an estate in 2015, according to officials.

The U.S. Attorney's Office said in a news release Monday, Aug. 20, that Raymond Patrick Snyder, 35, embezzled $889,881 from First National Bank on Aug. 17, 2015.

Snyder was a former employee of the bank, according to the release.

Neither the news release nor federal court records indicate where the bank branch is located.

Dawn Mayko, spokeswoman for the U.S. Attorney's Office, said Snyder was living in Dover at the time of the incident. His last known address is in Lancaster, she said.

According to federal court records, Snyder signed a plea agreement in the beginning of August, but it has not been approved by a judge.

If approved, Snyder will pay about $636,000 in restitution, records indicate. About $275,000 of that will be paid to the estate of a man who authorities say was a victim of Snyder's.

He would then pay about $361,000 in restitution to the bank, according to court records.

Mayko said that while some of the funds stolen were recovered by the victims, the restitution is determined by the money that still needs to be paid back.

Snyder's public defender declined comment Tuesday, Aug. 21.
