Springettsbury Township Police are searching for the driver who they say fled from officers early this week.

Lt. Tony Beam said an officer tried to stop a gray Pontiac Torrent for a vehicle violation about midnight Monday, Aug. 13.

The driver of the vehicle didn't stop but instead fled from police and drove west on the eastbound lanes of East Market Street, according to the lieutenant.

“When he traveled west in the eastbound lanes — we did not pursue him,” he said.

The car was found not long after that in York City.

“Eventually the vehicle was found crashed in the city,” Beam said.

It had crashed in the area of East Market and South Hartman streets. The occupants fled the scene, according to the lieutenant.

Anyone with information on the driver of the car can call Springettsbury Township Police at 717-757-3525.
