Child rape charges refiled for York Haven man
A York Haven man whose charges of child rape were dismissed last year has had those same charges refiled, according to court documents.
On Thursday, Aug. 2, Northern York County Regional Police refiled charges alleging Jeremy Nicolas Pressel, 31, raped a 6-year-old girl starting in 2015.
Pressel is currently serving a 1½- to three-year prison sentence for soliciting sex from someone he thought was 13-year-old girl.
He is currently incarcerated at the state prison in Waymart, Wayne County, according to online records.
Last year Pressel was charged with the same offenses, but the charges were dropped.
Northern Regional Deputy Chief David Lash said the charges were dropped because the victim was unable to testify at the hearing with Pressel in the room.
The victim has had counseling since then, according to Lash.
The deputy chief said the York County District Attorney's Office contacted Northern Regional Police on Aug. 2 and gave them the go-ahead to file charges, with the belief that the victim can now testify.
Allegations: Pressel faces charges of child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse with a child, indecent assault of someone younger than 13 and corruption of minors.
He would play games with the girl, including "Finding Nemo," during which he would put his penis in the girl's mouth, documents allege.
Pressel also molested the girl in other ways, according to officials.
After the incidents, he would buy her a baby doll, police said.
Prior record: Pressel pleaded guilty March 1, 2017, to the first-degree felony of unlawful contact with a minor. It was an open plea, his attorney for that case said at the time, meaning there was no negotiated plea agreement in place.
In June 2017, he was sentenced to 1½ to three years in prison.
Agents with the Pennsylvania Attorney General's Office's child-predator unit filed charges against Pressel in August 2016.
An agent posed online as a 13-year-old girl in an effort to find child molesters, and Pressel began sending him sexually explicit messages, according to a news release from the AG's office.
Pressel was free on bail in that case when Northern York County Regional Police filed the original charges against him in October 2016, alleging he raped a 6-year-old girl.
But all charges in that case, including child rape, were dismissed November 2016 at Pressel's preliminary hearing, according to court records.
