Police: Friday York City shooting victims targeted

The two men shot Friday night in York City were targeted, and days later the two are still in the hospital, according to police.

Lt. Gene Fells said Wednesday, July 11, that the two men shot in the 600 block of Bare Avenue Friday, July 6, were targeted.

Fells identified the two victims as Jay D. Johnson, 27, and Dwayne Morgan, 29. He said the two men, both York City residents, are family, but he didn't know the exact relationship.

Police said last week the two men were shot in the 600 block of Bare Avenue about 10 p.m. Friday.

As of Wednesday, the two remained in York Hospital, Fells said. Johnson, he said, was listed in critical condition, and Morgan was downgraded to stable condition.

Fells declined to say where they were shot but said the two were shot "multiple times."

No arrests had been made as of Wednesday.

"At this moment we think there was at least one other shooter," he said Wednesday afternoon.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call York City Police at 717-846-1234 or text "Yorktips" and your information to 847-411. The texting service is anonymous, police said, and is the best way to submit tips.
