Prison for Newberry man who paid girl, 14, for sex and recorded it
A Newberry Township man must serve prison time for paying a 14-year-old girl to have sex with him while he recorded it.
Austin Lee Bonsell, 21, of Violent Drive, appeared in York County Court on Thursday, June 28, where he was sentenced to six to 23 months in York County Prison.
He was taken into immediate custody by sheriff's deputies to be transported to the prison, according to court records.
He also was ordered to complete sex-offender treatment and abide by the York County Adult Probation Department's standard sex-offender conditions, court records state.
He pleaded guilty May 31 to the second-degree felony of statutory sexual assault, according to court records.
In exchange for his plea, charges of promoting the prostitution of a minor and corruption of a minor were dismissed, records state.
The case: Bonsell met the 14-year-old girl through Facebook in December 2017, according to court documents filed by Newberry Township Police.
That night, Bonsell picked up the girl, but they did not have sex, police said.
The two continued to converse through Facebook for a couple of weeks, and eventually Bonsell started offering the girl money to have sex with him, court documents state.
He told her he would pay $50 for her to perform oral sex on him, $150 for intercourse and $200 "for all of it ... while recording the act," documents state.
Late one night, still in December, Bonsell picked up the girl and brought her to his home, police said.
Recorded: There, the two had sexual relations, and Bonsell used his iPhone to record a portion of it, according to police.
In a police interview, Bonsell told investigators that he stopped when the girl said the intercourse was hurting her, according to court documents.
He gave the girl $200 as payment for the encounter, police said.
Bonsell knew before having sex with the girl that she was 14, according to police.
