An East Prospect man accused of sexually assaulting a 15-year-old girl allegedly told police he had sex with her because he was acting as a mentor to her, according to his charging documents.

Jereme Daniel Reimold, 39, of the first block of Riverview Drive, is free on $50,000 unsecured bail, meaning he didn't have to post money to remain out of prison but could forfeit that amount if he misses court proceedings.

He's charged with the felonies of statutory sexual assault, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse, sexual assault, aggravated indecent assault and corruption of a minor. He's also charged with two counts of misdemeanor indecent assault.

Attorney Rick Robinson, who is representing Reimold, declined immediate comment about the case on Tuesday, June 5.

Charging documents filed by state police allege the sexual assaults on the 15-year-old happened between October 2016 and July 2017.

Troopers began investigating after the girl reported the alleged assault.

The allegations: According to charging documents, Reimold admitted to having a sexual relationship with the teen and said it started while he was comforting her over something that had upset the girl.

The contact started with touching and progressed to the point where they engaged in sexual intercourse, documents allege.

"(Reimold) said he engaged in this activity because he was helping (the girl) and he saw this as his role to be a mentor to her," charging documents state.

Those documents indicate Reimond — who's 6-feet-3 and weighs 300 pounds — was acquainted with the teen's family.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for June 28 before District Judge John H. Fishel, according to court records.
