Local contractors dropped everything to help a girl involved in a bike accident in Dover Township Monday, according to a fire official.

Dover Township Deputy Fire Chief Brian Widmayer said emergency personnel were dispatched to the area of North Wynd Avenue and Faire Wynd Place at about 2:20 p.m. Monday, May 21, for a report of a girl who was injured in a bike accident.

The deputy chief said the girl had gone off her bike and into the woods, and a helicopter was called to take the girl to the hospital because of the extent of her injuries.

Contractors who were working in the neighborhood noticed the girl needed help and called 911, according to the fire department.

The fire department noted in a Facebook post that employees of both Allison Concrete Co. and Gosnell Paving Co. helped emergency responders Monday afternoon.

Employees of Allison Concrete Co. helped saw out some trees and bushes in the woods to create a path while a Gosnell employee held the patient still, the Facebook post states.

Two employees of Gosnell then helped place cones on the road for the helicopter to land, according to the deputy chief.

Widmayer said the department was happy to have the assistance.

“We would have gotten the job done, but it helped expedite things having them,” he said.

Widmayer said Northern York County Regional Police are investigating the incident.
