Police: College student attacked in Springetts by ex-boyfriend
A college student told police she was blacking out and thought she was going to die as her ex-boyfriend choked and beat her.
Springettsbury Township Police arrested the man, Griffin Andrew Mundis. He too is a college student, according to police.
Mundis, 19, of Hamilton Street in Springettsbury Township, is free on $25,000 unsecured bail, charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and harassment.
Both Mundis and ex Lilly Lee were home from college at the time of the alleged assault, police said.
Charging documents state they broke up a couple of weeks ago, but Mundis' parents allowed Lee to stay in their house last weekend while she was home from college. Mundis also was staying there that weekend.
The two got into a verbal argument the morning of Sunday, May 6, after which Mundis left the home, police said.
About noon, he sent Lee a text message stating, "If I see you I'm going to beat you, so leave now," charging documents allege.
He returned home about an hour later, yelling at her and telling her to leave, according to police.
Mundis grabbed Lee with both hands and started choking her, police allege. He then threw her to the ground, where he continued choking her, documents state.
Feared she would die: Lee later told officers she couldn't breathe, that her vision was becoming blurry and that she believed she was about to black out, police said.
"She stated that she thought to herself, 'This is it, he's going to kill me,'" charging documents state.
Mundis allegedly continued to choke Lee with one hand while hitting her in the head with the other, according to police allegations.
That's when two of his younger sisters came to Lee's aid, police said.
Charging documents state that as Mundis was dragging Lee by her hair toward the front door, one of his sisters punched him in the head, causing him to release Lee and fall to the floor.
When he got up, he left the house, police said.
Attempts to reach Mundis by phone were unsuccessful. It's unclear if he's retained an attorney.
