Arrest made in Manchester Twp. hotel robbery
Northern York County Regional Police have identified the man who they say robbed a Manchester Township hotel and tried to rob a Super 8 where he had rented a room.
Police found Michael Henry Vanbourgondien, 28, after he tried robbing the Super 8 at 6 p.m. May 2, the department said in a news release.
Police say he pulled a knife on the desk clerk at the motel and demanded money. The clerk did not give him money, and Vanbourgondien became frustrated and went back to his room, officials said.
Vanbourgondien told the clerk he would be back to get the money, according to authorities.
Police found him moments later in his room and took him into custody, the release states.
Police said Vanbourgondien also is the suspect in an earlier robbery.
Dressed in all dark clothing and wearing gloves and a bandanna over his face, he entered the lobby of the Homewood Suites, 200 Masonic Drive, about 1 a.m. April 27, police said.
He demanded cash, and the clerk took the cash from the drawers, officials said. Vanbourgondien took all of the money and told the clerk to go into the office until he left, police said.
After his arrest,Vanbourgondien was taken to the county's central booking unit for arraignment. He is charged with robbery, theft, receiving stolen property, terroristic threats and recklessly endangering another person.
He was sent to York County Prison in lieu of $300,000 bail.
