Police: Barricaded Dover Twp. man dies from self-inflicted wounds
A barricaded Dover Township man died from self-inflicted wounds over the weekend, according to police.
Northern York County Regional Police said in a news release that the department was called to the 5000 block of North Salem Church Road about 8:20 a.m. Sunday, April 29, for a report of a man who had barricaded himself in a garage with a woman.
Police arrived, and the man agreed to let the woman go, unharmed. The man, identified as Eric Landis, 46, had several types of firearms and knives and had already inflicted several wounds to himself, officials said.
The York County Quick Response Team was asked to come to the scene, and after several hours of attempting to negotiate with him, tear gas was used and the garage doors were forcibly breached, according to police.
Landis was found dead, police said.
No shots were fired, the release states.
The York County Coroner's Office was called to the scene at 2 p.m. An autopsy for Landis is scheduled for Tuesday, May 1, at Lehigh Valley Hospital.
