A registered York City sex offender who followed a drunken woman home and had sex with her is headed to state prison.

On Friday, April 27, Albert Williams was sentenced to five to 10 years in prison, according to public defender Joshua Neiderhiser.

A jury on March 15 convicted Williams of the second-degree felony of sexual assault but acquitted him of rape of an unconscious person.

Jurors deliberated for a little more than 12 hours over two days, deputy prosecutor Teresa Jauregui has said.

Williams, 44, of the first block of North East Street, also is known as Albert Bowen, according to court records.

York City Police said Williams was at the M&M Bar and Lounge, 530 Maryland Ave., in the early-morning hours of Jan. 28, 2017, when he spotted a woman who appeared too drunk to leave on her own.

Williams went outside and waited for about a half-hour until he saw another bar patron drive her home, police said.

Williams followed them to the 40-year-old drunken woman's home, documents state.

After walking the woman inside her home, he sexually assaulted her, police said.

2nd stranger rape: Jauregui said it's the second time Williams has been convicted of raping a stranger.

Although Williams had been interacting in the M&M with the woman, the two hadn't met before that night, the prosecutor said.

Trial testimony revealed that when the driver who took the woman home asked if it was OK with the drunken woman that Williams go inside with her, she nodded her head, according to Jauregui.

But the driver testified the victim might have misinterpreted the question, and the victim herself testified she thought she was being asked if both Williams and the driver could come in, Jauregui said.

The victim — who attended the entire trial — testified she blacked out after going home.

She testified that she awoke on her couch to Williams having sex with her, at which point she told him no and tried to push him away, according to Jauregui.

'I'm not done': Testimony revealed that Williams told her, "I'm not done," and she blacked out again, Jauregui said.

The victim said she briefly woke up again to find Williams standing by her bedroom but said she passed out again and didn't wake up until later in the morning, according to the prosecutor. By that time, Williams was gone.

Police tracked down Williams, who admitted he had sex with the woman and acknowledged she was "real, real drunk," according to court documents.

Williams told investigators that after having sex with her, he had to wake her up to put her clothing back on her, documents state.

He was convicted in York County Court in 2001 of sexual assault and burglary for breaking into a house and sexually assaulting the woman inside, according to court records.

He was sentenced to 3½ to seven years in state prison for that assault, court records state.
