Gunfire erupted in York City just after 5 p.m. Tuesday, killing an 18-year-old man and wounding a second man, police said.

York City Police said they are looking for Shanquay Ritter, 21, of York City, for questioning in the shooting.

According to York City Police, officers were called to the 100 block of East Maple Street for a report of shots fired on Tuesday, April 24.

When officers arrived, they found 18-year-old Nylik Roger Moore of North George Street with at least one gunshot wound to the chest, police said.

He was taken to York Hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead at 5:38 p.m., according to the York County Coroner's Office.

A second shooting victim, Jashan Wilson, 20, of York City, was taken to York Hospital in a private vehicle, according to police.

Wilson was struck at least once in the arm and was in stable condition Tuesday night, police said.

Moore was targeted, according to police.

An autopsy is scheduled for 10 a.m. Wednesday, April 25, at Allentown's Lehigh Valley Hospital, according to York County Coroner Pam Gay.

Morning shooting: The homicide happened the same day as a so-far nonfatal shooting.

On Tuesday morning, 43-year-old Walter Jenkins of York City was shot in the head on Park Street, according to police, who said he was targeted.

Jenkins was taken to York Hospital in critical condition, according to police.

Interim York City Police Chief Troy Bankert told The York Dispatch he could not immediately answer questions about whether the recent spate of shootings is related to gang violence or how many of those shootings are believed to be connected to each other.
