An argument over a drug sale ended with a man being shot in York City, police said.

Craig Slanker, 51, of Manchester Township, suffered a gunshot wound to the upper leg but avoided life-threatening injury, according to York City Police Lt. Gene Fells.

Slanker was taken to York Hospital for treatment, police said.

Officers found the wounded Slanker when they were called to the 700 block of Pennsylvania Avenue just before 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12.

There was only one shooter, and no one but Slanker was hurt in the gunfire, according to Fells.

The lieutenant said Slanker and the person who shot him got into an argument over a drug sale, and that's what led to the shooting.

No arrests had been made as of Friday afternoon, but Fells said detectives "have some leads" they are following.

Anyone with information about the shooting is asked to call York City Police at 717-846-1234, or text "Yorktips" and your information to 847-411. The texting service is anonymous.

People also can submit anonymous tips through the York City PD app.
