Police: Fired York City man points gun at manager

A fired employee of a Conewago Township business pulled a gun on his former manager after he was escorted from the property, according to police.

Northern York County Regional Police say Efrain Rivera, who has an "aggressive past," fled the scene after pointing the gun.

Rivera, 58, of the 600 block of North Pershing Avenue, York City, is charged with simple assault, recklessly endangering another person, disorderly conduct and harassment.

Allegations: Police say Rivera was being escorted out of his job at a business in the 4800 block of Susquehanna Trail about 1:15 p.m. March 7, when he got into his Jeep Cherokee and pointed a pistol at a manager.

The manager was one of three people escorting Rivera from the property, according to officials. Police say Rivera was fired for stealing time from the company.

Charging documents state that Rivera pulled the gun and pointed it at the manager through the passenger seat of his vehicle while the window was rolled down.

He said something, but witnesses couldn't hear what he said, police said. Rivera then drove off, according to court documents.

"(The manager) advised that during the time that this gun was being pointed at him, he was in fear for his life, and that he felt extremely threatened," Officer Gage Baumgardner wrote in charging documents.

The manager said "Did you see that? He just pointed a gun at me," just after the incident, according to officials. Rivera fled the scene before police arrived, court documents state.

Police say Rivera was taken into custody at 9 a.m. Thursday, March 8. The pistol was also recovered, according to police.

Rivera remains free after posting $35,000 bail.

He does not have an attorney listed.

His preliminary hearing is scheduled for April 10 at District Judge David Eshbach's office.
