PSP: Student abduction attempt reported
State police investigated a complaint this week about a possible abduction attempt at a school bus stop in southern York County.
Trooper James Spencer, a state police spokesman, said police were notified about the encounter shortly after 3 p.m. Monday, Feb. 5.
It happened about 9 a.m. Monday at a school bus stop in the 6200 block of Sunset Lane in Codorus Township, he said.
The location is west of New Freedom and a few miles north of the Mason-Dixon line.
A 15-year-old girl was standing at the bus stop when a car pulled up and two people got out, according to Spencer.
The teen felt uncomfortable and ran inside a nearby home, he said.
The people who got out of the car never said anything to the teen and did not try to approach her, Spencer said.
He said troopers found no evidence to indicate it was an abduction attempt, but he said the teen did the right thing by getting away quickly when she suspected something was amiss.
On Tuesday, reports about the incident started surfacing on social media, with people describing it as a credible kidnapping attempt.
Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call state police at 717-428-1011.
