York County child pornographer sentenced again
A York County man serving a 50-year federal prison sentence for producing child pornography has been sentenced in county court for sexually assaulting two children.
Michael Charles Clarke, 44, formerly of Manheim Township, appeared in York County Court on Wednesday, Jan. 31, and pleaded guilty to child rape, involuntary deviate sexual intercourse and indecent assault of a child less than 13, according to court records.
The charges were for two victims, according to deputy prosecutor Alissa Cardenas.
She said Clarke raped and sexually assaulted a girl over a several-year period, starting when the girl was 4 years old.
The second victim was between 5 and 6 years old when she was indecently assaulted by Clarke, Cardenas said.
Clarke video-recorded himself assaulting the younger girl multiple times, the U.S. Attorney's Office has said.
He was sentenced in York County Court to 10 years and nine months to 21½ years in prison, according to court records.
Common Pleas Judge Harry Ness ordered that Clarke serve his York County time in federal prison, court records state; it runs concurrent to his federal sentence.
Cardenas said she is dropping a third case against Clarke because those charges were for the same child porn-producing offenses that federal authorities charged him with.
At Wednesday's hearing, the mother of one of the victims spoke in court about how the abuse has affected her child and about how Clarke took advantage of her trust, according to Cardenas.
Federal case: Clarke pleaded guilty in November 2016 in federal court to charges of producing, possessing and transporting child pornography.
In October 2017, he was sentenced to 50 years in prison, court records state.
Federal officials said the sexual abuse he recorded went on between 2010 and 2015.
Clarke was arrested by Southwestern Regional Police in September 2015 and charged with child rape and related offenses.
Authorities searched his home, where computers, hard drives, thumb drives and CDs were seized. The FBI examined them and found that Clarke had downloaded and saved child porn on a number of the devices, federal officials have said.
Additional investigation showed that Clarke made recordings in 2010 of another minor girl by using hidden cameras, and he then took the images from Iowa to Pennsylvania, officials said.
