The body of a York City man found dead in his Salem Avenue home had multiple sharp-force trauma wounds, according to the York County Coroner's Office.

"Sharp-force trauma" would include cuts and stab wounds.

York City Police are calling 47-year-old Lester Herbin Jr.'s death suspicious.

Officers were dispatched to his home in the 400 block of Salem Avenue about 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 17, according to the York County 911 Center.

Police issued a news release about 1 p.m. Wednesday describing the death as suspicious.

An autopsy has not yet been scheduled, according to a news release from the coroner's office.

At the scene Wednesday, members of the York County Forensics Team wore Tyvek hazardous-materials suits as they ferried evidence from Herbin's home to their truck.

Troubling statements: Herbin made numerous troubling, convoluted statements in 22 posts on his Facebook page the day before his death, indicating he might have been distraught or suffering from mental-health issues.

He talked about his reward being in heaven and made numerous statements about how he would be punished for betraying Satan.

Herbin also wrote that he needed sleep, but that the "horrors that await" him were a heavy burden.

His last post, shortly before 6 p.m. Tuesday — and about 10 hours before his body was found — asks, "Do you want to join me?"

Anyone with information about Herbin or his death is asked to call York City detectives at 717-849-2219 or anonymously text "Yorktips" and your information to 847-411. Or download the York City Police app.
