Two York City men grabbed and threw another man to the ground, robbing him of his house keys, which were later used to go into an apartment, police said.

Jeff Charles, 21, and Markendy Pierre, 26, both took off after the robbery Tuesday, Jan, 9, but didn't make it too far before getting arrested, court documents state.

Charles, of the first block of West South Street, is charged with robbery, trespass and disorderly conduct. Pierre, of the 900 block of West Poplar Street, is charged with robbery and disorderly conduct.

Robbery: According to police, the two men grabbed the victim at about 8 p.m. Tuesday near the intersection of South West Street and Wewt Market Street.

The two, along with another person, threw the victim to the ground, and he was held down by one person while the other two repeatedly kicked him, charging documents state. Police say the attack lasted five minutes.

His ID, house keys, medical card, access card, $300 and two lighters were taken from him in the ordeal, court documents allege.

Police saw Charles and Pierre heading eastbound on West Mason Avenue shortly after the robbery, and they were taken into custody shortly afterward, according to police.

It is unclear if police have identified a third suspect.

Entered home: Police also say Charles entered an apartment using the victim's house keys. While there, he asked a woman questions about who lived there, but she was unable to answer them, court documents state.

He then left the apartment, police said.

"(The woman) advised she was very scared by this encounter which lasted for five minutes," Officer Shawn Wilson wrote in charging documents.
