A Baltimore City police officer accused of sexting with a York County teen has pleaded guilty.

Timothy Rae George III, 26, of Bayonne Avenue in Baltimore, pleaded guilty Friday in York County Court to possession of child pornography, according to court records.

In exchange, charges of unlawful contact with a minor, corruption of a minor and disseminating sexually explicit material to a minor will be dismissed at his sentencing hearing, according to defense attorney Chris Ferro.

Ferro said his client's negotiated plea agreement calls for George to be sentenced to six to 23 months in York County Prison, followed by three years of probation.

"I think we're a step closer to resolving this unfortunate situation," Ferro said. "My client is beyond remorseful for his actions and lack of good judgment. He's still a young man, and I think this will be a tough, but productive, learning experience for him."

George was hired as an officer by Baltimore City Police in June 2014, according to a department spokeswoman. He remains suspended without pay based on the criminal charges, she said.

'Moving on': But his work status could soon change.

"He has every intention of moving on and no longer being a police officer," Ferro told The York Dispatch.

After accepting the guilty plea, presiding Common Pleas Judge Gregory M. Snyder ordered George undergo a sexual-offender evaluation to determine if he should be deemed a sexually violent predator under the state's Megan's Law.

Ferro said he expects George will not be deemed a sexually violent predator.

Sentencing is set for Oct. 3, according to court records. The date is several months away because the state sex-offender evaluation George must undergo requires 90 days to ensure completion, according to Ferro.

George remains in York County Prison.

Met on social media: According to charging documents, George met a 15-year-old Spring Grove-area teen through Facebook at the end of August, and the two began conversing on the phone, through Facebook Messenger and by text.

The teen sent photographs of himself to George, according to Northern York County Regional Police.

The teen also sent a video of himself masturbating to George, documents allege.

Also during those conversations, the two talked about getting married, despite George knowing the boy was 15, charging documents state.

'Explicit' texts: George also provided "explicit, detailed verbal descriptions (and) narrative accounts of sexual excitement via text messages" to the teen, according to documents, and "intentionally had contact with the minor in an attempt to have sexual contact with the minor."

After obtaining a warrant and seizing George's cellphone, Northern Regional Police found on it the video of the teen masturbating, as well as photos of the teen, documents state.

Police began investigating the officer in September, after the teen's father discovered what was going on and alerted them, according to charging documents.

Assault case: At this point, George remains charged with four counts of second-degree assault in Baltimore County, Maryland, for allegedly assaulting his husband, Brandon Smith.

Smith previously told The York Dispatch that George never touched him and that he lied to police to get George into trouble.

Smith cited his own mental-health issues as the reason he apparently lied.

But earlier this week, Smith emailed a York Dispatch reporter, suggesting perhaps the assault did happen.

"I wanted to make things look better for him up there in York, PA and make the charges in Baltimore County go away," he wrote. "I succeeded."
