Police: Red Lion man attacked pregnant woman
Police are searching for a Red Lion man who allegedly beat a pregnant woman, causing a placental injury. A cash reward is being offered to the person whose tips result in his capture, according to Pennsylvania Crime Stoppers.
Marcus Allen Beers, 31, whose last known address was on Lancaster Avenue in the borough, remains on the lam and could be in a gray 2003 Honda Odyssey with a man named Matthew Zimmerman, according to state police. Zimmerman also is wanted on felony warrants, police said.
Beers is known to frequent the Baltimore area, according to police.
Once captured, he will be charged with aggravated assault, strangulation, simple assault and harassment, according to court records.
The allegations: State police allege that in the early-morning hours of April 25, Beers attacked a woman who was 25 weeks pregnant inside their home on Lancaster Avenue.
Trooper Brent Miller, a state police spokesman, said Beers and the woman had been in some sort of relationship.
The 23-year-old woman told troopers that Beers grabbed her by the throat, squeezed it and threw her into a wall, charging documents state. After being thrown into the wall, the woman fell to the floor, landing on her stomach, police said.
She went to her bedroom, but Beers followed her and hit her in the face, splitting open her lip, after which he struck her in the back two more times and choked her, documents allege.
The woman was able to make it outside, but Beers followed her and pushed her to the ground twice more, police allege.
Taken to hospital: At that point, the woman got away from Beers and called a friend, who drove her to Memorial Hospital, documents state.
She remained in the hospital, where she learned that stomach trauma had prematurely separated her placenta from her uterus, for 24 hours.
The woman called police and reported the assault last week.
Police said they tracked down Beers' vehicle but have been unable to find Beers.
He is 6-feet-3, weighs 165 pounds and has brown hair and blue eyes, according to police.
