York City man charged with rape, assault
A York City man is in prison after police said he raped and assaulted a 20-year-old woman last summer.
Authorities charged Ethan Rippey, 21, of 237 W. Jackson St., with one count each of rape by forcible compulsion, involuntary deviant sexual intercourse and sexual assault — all felonies — as well as a misdemeanor count of attempted simple assault, according to charging documents.
On Nov. 18, the woman reached out to the York City Police Department to report she had been raped by Rippey from 11 p.m. Aug. 21 to 1 a.m. Aug. 22, according to court documents.
The woman told police she repeatedly told Rippey “no” and that Rippey choked her during the assault, documents state.
Immediately after the assault, the woman went to York Hospital to have a rape kit conducted, documents state. The forensic examination yielded multiple lacerations and bruises as well as abrasions around her neck, documents state.
Rippey is awaiting a preliminary hearing in York County Prison, unable to post his $30,000 bail.
