Southern Regional Police are investigating a burglary that happened in Shrewsbury last week.

On Thursday, someone tried to enter a home on Northbrook Lane through a rear, sliding-glass door but was unable to because of a locking bar, according to a news release from Southern Regional Police.

The thief was able to get into the home by forcing open the front door and then stole jewelry, the release states.

Southern Regional Police recommend all residents secure their doors and windows and that a secondary locking device, such as a locking bar, be used for sliding-glass doors.

Anyone with information on the incident is asked to call police at 717-235-3944.
