Child porn charges for Dallastown man
A Dallastown man is free on bail after being arraigned on numerous child pornography charges.
Jeffery T. Pianis, 50, faces one count of dissemination of child pornography and 17 counts of possession of child pornography, according to court documents.
At the beginning of October, West York Borough Police Detective Mike Mendez contacted York Area Regional Police Detective Trent Buschman about a computer Mendez had discovered that was offering child pornography, according to charging documents.
After downloading a file containing child pornography, Mendez tracked the computer’s IP address to Pianis’ Dallastown residence and executed a search warrant on the apartment on Oct. 24, documents state.
Nine items were removed as evidence during the search, including a Dell laptop computer used by Pianis on which police found 12 videos depicting sexually explicit acts with children and five digital photos of nude children, documents state.
During a call with Buschman, Pianis admitted to using file-sharing software to share music and movies, but he said he did not know about the child pornography on his laptop and suggested someone might have hacked his IP address to access his computer, documents state.
Pianis was released from York County Prison on Dec. 21 after posting $10,000 bail, according to court documents.
