A West York man was arrested Friday on child pornography charges for the second time in six years after an undercover investigation by West York Borough Police.

John Joseph Rosario, 26, faces felony charges of possession and distribution of child pornography, according to court documents. Rosario was arrested in June 2011 on a child pornography charge that was later withdrawn, documents state.

The arrest was the result of an undercover investigation led by officers in the West York Borough Police Department Criminal Investigative Division, who were assisted by the Northern York County Regional Police, York City Police and the FBI, according to a news release from West York Borough Police.

West York Detective Mike Mendez with the Special Crimes Unit began an investigation into Rosario's alleged downloading of child pornography after Mendez intercepted images using specialized software, according to the news release.

When the warrant was served, additional images and videos were obtained from Rosario's computer that depicted children as young as 4 engaged in sexual activity with adults, the news release stated.

Rosario is awaiting his arraignment in York County Prison after he was unable to post bail, which is set at $100,000.
