Police have been looking for Rodriguez-Gonzalez for almost a year, after a teenage autistic girl reported a sexual assault to Newberry Township Police at the end of November 2015.

The girl told police the assault happened on the morning of Nov. 15, 2015, documents state.

She told police she was watching a movie in her home with Rodriguez-Gonzalez, who was a friend of a family member, police said. The family member was not there at the time, documents state.

The two were sitting on a sofa bed when Rodriguez-Gonzalez began to tickle her, police said. After that, he unzipped his pants, pulled her shorts down and had sex with her, police said.

Attempts by police to find Rodriguez-Gonzalez in and around Harrisburg were unsuccessful, according to the release. Newberry Township Police requested assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service Fugitive Task Force to apprehend Rodriguez-Gonzalez. Officers from the task force determined he had fled to Puerto Rico.

He was detained in San Juan and is awaiting extradition to Pennsylvania, according to the release.
