A York City man remains in York County Prison after police say he tried to stab another resident in his home.

Joshua Ezkiel Ortiz, 29, of 106 E. College Ave., is charged with aggravated assault and simple assault, according to charging documents filed Oct. 27 by York City Police.

Joshua Ortiz allegedly attacked housemate Jose Ortiz the morning of Oct. 26 after an incident occurred in the home.

Police said Jose Ortiz was locking up the residence after Joshua Ortiz stepped outside, when Joshua Ortiz reached through a window and tried to stab the other man with a kitchen knife. The window blinds stopped Joshua Ortiz from stabbing Jose Ortiz, police said.

Joshua Ortiz was arraigned Monday and was remanded to York County Prison in lieu of $25,000 bail, according to online court records.
